Monday Morning Message 11.30.20 Help a Student's Dream Come True
“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”– Harriet Tubman
As has become a tradition around the holidays Giving Tuesday will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, December 1, 2020.
#GivingTuesday is a global movement focused on generosity and philanthropy for nonprofit organizations, CSU Cleveland-Marshall College of Law among them.

Monday Morning Message 11.23.20 Thankful for Resilience.
“We need resilience and hope and a spirit that can carry us through the doubt and fear.”– Brené Brown
There will be far too many empty chairs at dinner tables this Thanksgiving. Those empty chairs remind us that this pandemic is far from over and we must remain both vigilant and resilient.
I want to express my gratitude for the exceptional perseverance, flexibility, and adaptability of our law students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends these past nine extraordinary months.
Living, working, teaching, learning, and studying has never been harder, but we saw this past weekend a great example of how our students’ resilience can prevail in the midst of unprecedented challenges.

Monday Morning Message 11.16.20 The Credit Belongs to Those Actually in the Arena.
“My creed is that public service must be more than doing a job efficiently and honestly. It must be ….with full recognition that every human being is entitled to courtesy and consideration, that constructive criticism is not only to be expected but sought… that honor is to be earned but not bought.” -U.S. Senator Margaret Chase Smith

Monday Morning Message 11.9.20 You Are Not Alone.
“Health is a state of body. Wellness is a state of being.” – J. Stanford
“The first semester of law school is always a confusing and challenging time….The fact that you are doing this during a pandemic speaks volumes about your strength, ability, and flexibility….. You are not alone. I write to remind you…. We are here.” – Sarah Beznoska, Assistant Dean for Student and Career Services, in an email to our first-year students, the first-ever 1L class at CSU C|M|LAW to start their legal education online.
My highest priority as Dean is not only our students’ first-class, quality legal education, but also their happiness, mental health, and well-being.

Monday Morning Message 11.2.20 Three Hopes For Tomorrow's Election: The Battle for Our Better Angels
“In our finest hours...the soul of the country manifests itself in an inclination to open our arms rather than to clench our fists; to look out rather than to turn inward; to accept rather than to reject.” ― Jon Meacham, The Soul of America: The Battle for Our Better Angels
I have three hopes about the outcome of tomorrow’s historic Presidential election.

Monday Morning Message 10.26.20 Living Justice Day
“Words cannot express the gratitude I have for the scholarship you all have so kindly decided to offer me…You all have given me the opportunity to fulfill my destiny and for that I am forever grateful !” -1L Student
Each fall, we are excited to hold our Hall of Fame event to honor those exceptional leaders who have contributed to the past, present, and/or future success and reputation of CSU C|M|LAW. We have decided to postpone this year’s Hall of Fame event until 2021 because we don’t think it is fair to our distinguished CSU C|M|LAW Hall of Fame Honorees pictured below not to have an in-person celebration.

Monday Morning Message 10.19.20 The Most Important- and Least Understood- College in the World.
For good ideas and true innovation, you need human interaction, conflict, argument, debate.”
-Margaret Heffernan
It is better to debate a question without settling it than to settle a question without debating it.”
- Joseph Joubert
On Tuesday, November 3, 2020, the eyes of the world will be on the most important- and least understood- college in the world- the Electoral College.

Monday Morning Message 10.12.20 Know the Truth. Spread the Truth.
“The ballot is stronger than the bullet.” -President Abraham Lincoln
Every week until Election Day, I will continue to provide information about voting. Why? Because in all my years participating in and watching elections, I have never seen so much deliberate disinformation about alleged voter fraud designed to undermine confidence in our democracy and our election system.
This is not and must not be a partisan issue.

Monday Morning Message 10.5.20 3 Reasons Why Today Is So Important
“There are three constants in life: change, choice and principles.” -Stephen Covey
Today, Monday, October 5, 2020, is a very important day for three reasons.
First, the Ohio Bar Exam starts today. For the first time in Ohio history, it will be a remote online exam.
Change is hard, and our 2020 graduates have had to endure unprecedented uncertainty, so our faculty and staff sent them this video to let them know that we support them- We Believe In You - Message to our Bar Takers

Monday Morning Message 9.29.20 Time to Show Up.
Note: Monday was Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year in Judaism, so this message is being sent Tuesday morning.
“The vote is precious. It is almost sacred. It is the most powerful non-violent tool we have in a democracy.” – Congressman John Lewis
“We do not have government by the majority. We have government by the majority who participate.” – Thomas Jefferson
