What motivated you to attend law school?

A quote that has always motivated me is one by Mahatma Gandhi: “In a gentle way, you can shake the world.” It reminds me that even our smallest actions have ripple effects. I decided to attend law school to help people, with the hopes of impacting the community-at-large. I knew that law school would provide me with the necessary education to start making small changes in the world.

Tell us about your legal work experience (law clerk, externship, internship, etc.).

In November 2018 I began working at Nurenberg Paris as a Law Clerk in the appellate department. During my time at the firm, I assisted attorneys by researching and drafting memoranda in various personal injury actions. Working alongside exceptional attorneys, I improved my legal research and writing skills.

Academically, I was also fortunate enough to be a part of Cleveland Marshall College of Law’s Civil Litigation Clinic. This experience allowed me to apply my skills to an actual landlord-tenant case in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. During the Clinic, I received constructive criticism from my professor and my peers. The exposure that I received to civil litigation during the course was a beneficial experience for me.

What are the best qualities you will bring to a legal employer?

My work ethic and my desire to be challenged. During law school, I never stopped working. I always had a job, whether it was in a restaurant or a legal position. I want to keep pushing myself and challenging myself.

As a recent graduate, I am eager to begin building my legal career in the community. I am ready to prove myself to be a hard-working, dedicated attorney. Furthermore, during my time at Nurenberg Paris, I polished my research, writing, and communication skills. My superiors at the firm taught me how to communicate persuasively and thoughtfully.

Finally, I am a very conscientious person. I can listen, think about things from all perspectives, and provide help. Whatever my job is, I will do my job well and with thoroughness. I make sure that I always turn in a work-product that I and my employer will be proud of.

What are your goals for your legal career?

I have an open mind when it comes to what area of law I want to practice. During law school, I took an array of classes, from Criminal Felony Sentencing to Employment Law to a Cybersecurity Risk Assessment course, to ensure that I have a grasp of diverse legal concepts. I am equipped with the tools that I need to explore different areas of the law. Whichever avenue I do end up taking, my goal is to immerse myself in that area of law.

I intend to begin my legal career by making an impact close to home in Cleveland, to always continue learning, and to evolve as a legal professional.
