In addition to applying for the J.D. program, applicants have the option of applying to one of our dual degree program options, which means that they can obtain a J.D. and a second graduate degree, typically reducing by two semesters the length of time normally required if obtaining those degrees separately. NOTE: Dual degree options are available to students in our in-person programs; they are not available through our JD Online program.

Applicants to a dual degree program must apply separately to - and be admitted by - both the law school and the school that will grant the second degree. This means that applicants must meet the application and admission requirements of each school. Indicating on your application for admission that you are interested in a dual degree option does not guarantee your admission to the dual degree schools or approval by the two programs of the coursework taken at the other. You are advised to speak with the law school's office of academic services regarding the sequencing of your dual degree program.

The sequencing of your coursework is very important: No credit will be granted by the law school for coursework taken elsewhere at the University prior to matriculation in the law school. For this reason, most dual degree students start their program at the law school before matriculating into another program at the University.
